The first commemorative United States Postal Service stamp to honor Walt Disney was issued in 1968, with first day ceremonies held in Marceline, Missouri, Walt’s boyhood village that he perceived as the ideal American town.
Featured on the stamp is Walt surrounded by caricatures of children of the world, all holding hands and emerging from Sleeping Beauty Castle, the icon of the Walt Disney Company.
